Students' Pre-Congress Tour

IPC2021 offers a special side-event for the students: a 3-day tour (TBC) in Central and Western Estonia.

Topics: peatland nutrient and carbon cycle; restoration and greenhouse gases; hertitage, recreation and tourism; peat production and agriculture on peatlands.

The participants will visit some of the most beautiful and famous wetlands and peatlands in Estonia and have the chance to learn from the top experts about various ecosystem services peatlands provide at the global, regional and local scale. You can enjoy the blooming orchids in Northern Estonian calcareous fens, see what makes the Soomaa (“land of mires”) National Park so famous and highly valued among visitors and learn how former mires support food and timber production. The students’ tour will end in Tallinn just before Congress.

We are glad to announce that one of the keynote speakers of the IPC2021 event, Dr. Tatiana Minayeva, is joining us for entire trip. She is a world-known wetland scientist who has worked all over the world on various topics.
The group is limited to 25 people, which ensures a high-quality experience for all participants. The participant list will be generally filled by the principle “first come, first served” but the organisers retain the right to choose among candidates based on their motivation letters. Before registering to the congress and student tour, please provide a short letter of motivation (max 300 words) to Marko Kohv (marko.kohv@gmail.com) stating your academic background and motivation for taking part in the students’ pre-congress tour. Hurry up with registering!

Price: TBC

Price includes a 3-day full programme with expert guides and scientists, modern private coach, accommodation (3 nights), meals.

Registration is required with the registration for the Congress.
